Archive Réné Boivin
The challenge
René Boivin is a renowned French jeweler and founder of the jewelry house bearing his name, established in 1890. After being acquired by the Asprey group in 1991, the house was eventually closed.
To preserve and showcase the legacy of this iconic jeweler, it became necessary to develop a digital platform to archive and manage his collection of historic jewelry sketches. The platform also needed administrative tools for organizing users and categorizing sketches.
The solution
I was responsible for the full-stack development of a web application tailored to catalog and manage the René Boivin sketch collection. Key features included:
- Sketch Management: Upload, view, and organize all jewelry sketches.
- User Management: Admin interface for managing access and roles.
- Category Management: Define and apply categories used throughout the application.
Edit Tracking: Track and log editing actions for each individual sketch for version control and accountability.
Tech Stack Used:
- Backend: Laravel
- Frontend: Vue.js, HTML, Sass
The challenge
- Preservation of Artistic Legacy: The platform ensures René Boivin’s sketches are digitally archived and accessible for future generations.
- Administrative Control: Admins have full control over users, categories, and content updates.
- Transparency & Security: Edit tracking brings accountability and helps maintain the integrity of the collection.
- Scalability: Built to handle a growing library of sketches and user roles as the archive expands.
